VOM Puppy is a food specially developed for puppies, and can be used from the puppy's very first mouthful of solid food, from approx. 3-4 weeks, and until it is fully grown at approx. 1 year, depending on the breed.

High-quality protein

  • Meat, offal and eggs are sources of protein of very high quality and biological value
  • Essential for puppies' growth and development of muscles, tissues and organs

Essential fatty acids

  • For example, DHA and EPA
  • The fatty acids are important for the development of the puppy's brain, heart, vision, nervous system and immune system.

Calcium and phosphorus

  • VOM PUPPY gives the puppy the right balance of the minerals calcium and phosphorus
  • Essential for the development of strong bones and teeth

In VOM Puppy there will be bone and cartilage from chicken and salmon as a natural and nutritious part of the feed. Bone and cartilage are, amongst other things, a natural source of calcium and phosphorus. The puppy has a digestive system that is equipped to eat raw animal ingredients such as meat and bone, and in addition the feed is minced so that it is as easily digestible as possible. We do not recommend removing bone or cartilage before serving, as this will affect the balanced content of calcium and phosphorus in the feed.

Guide feeding amount

Our recommended feeding amount for VOM Puppy is 4–5% of the puppy’s body weight per day when feeding a complete diet. As the puppy approaches the halfway point of its growth phase, it will often be advisable to reduce the amount to approximately 3.5% of the puppy’s body weight per day. As the puppy nears full maturity, you can gradually reduce the amount to approximately 2% of the dog’s body weight per day, which is our recommended feeding amount for adult dogs.

Size and growth rate vary greatly depending on the breed. Puppies of a smaller breed will be fully grown long before a puppy of a larger breed. It will therefore be individual when it is appropriate to reduce the amount of food. It is also important to remember that this is a guide amount that must be adapted to the individual puppy. We therefore recommend using the guide amount as a starting point.

Use this formula:
Puppy's weight in kg × 40 or 50 = grams per day

Example: A 15 kg puppy: 15 × 40 or 50 = 600 or 750 grams per day

*The table shows the calculations for 4-5%, 3.5% and 2% for a puppy of various weights. Size and growth rate vary greatly from one individual to another. Puppies of a smaller breed will reach full size long before a puppy of a larger breed. The appropriate time to adjust the amount of food given will therefore vary from puppy to puppy. Please bear in mind that this is a guide only, which must be adapted to the individual puppy. The amount of food required may therefore vary from what your puppy actually needs, and we therefore recommend that you use the guide amounts only as a starting point!

How many meals should my puppy have a day?

This will vary both due to individual differences, but also because of the breed and age of the puppy. We would recommend three to four meals a day until the puppy is around 3-4 months old. Thereafter, you can gradually reduce to three times a day. When the puppy starts approaching one year of age, it can be given two meals a day.

Should I feed my puppy at set times every day?

By nature, the dog is not used to eating at the same times every day. Nor is there anything to indicate that the puppy must have the meals served at fixed times every day, but it is naturally wise to distribute them evenly throughout the day. Rather than just giving full meals, the puppy can also be given its feed in creative ways. VOM PUPPY can, for example, be stuffed into a Kong toy, spread out over a lick mat, used as treats during training, or simply served in new places around the house or garden.
