Jotka Fjellstue/Team Jotka

Jotka Fjellstue is situated on the Finnmarksvidda mountain plateau along the old travel route between Alta and Karasjok. This traditional mountain lodge still has no permanent road connection and serves as the first and final checkpoint for all dog teams participating in the Finnmarksløpet race. Those who run the mountain lodges are known as «oppsittere» (caretakers), a job that is usually passed down through generations. Lisa Kristensen took over from her parents and runs the place together with her husband Steinar Kristensen, something they have been doing since 2003.

Steinar and Lisa have extensive experience in dog sledding and have, among other things, participated several times in the Finnmarksløpet. They have a large kennel with many dogs. In addition to Team Jotka competing at a high level in long-distance dog sledding, they also wish to share the joy of dogs with visiting guests.

The mountain lodge has thirty beds and the Finnmark plateau is accessible all year round. Each season offers its own entirely unique experiences. With scenic surroundings and the plateau right outside the door, this place is an elorado for you as a guest, both for families with children and businesses. The experiences and activities are numerous, regardless of the season, and are tailored to each individual according to what they might wish for or need.

«We aim for a high level in long-distance dog sledding, and our dogs» performances are world-class. To achieve this, the dogs must be fed at the same level. That is why we feed our dogs with VOM»
Steinar Kristensen
