VOM Digestive is a complete food with added rice and beet fibre. Both rice and fibre offer several positive benefits for the dog. Boiled rice is a gentle source of carbohydrate, which provides the dog with a quick supply of energy from glucose. Fibre provides bulk and a sense of fullness, and can therefore help with weight control by reducing total calorie intake. It also contributes positively to the regulation of bowel movements, whilst acting as prebiotics for the good gut bacteria. Beef tripe is also a source of probiotic bacteria which are beneficial for the gut's bacterial flora.
The mixture has a lower energy density than our other complete foods, and is therefore well suited for dogs that need a lower energy density in their diet. VOM Digestive is also good to start with if you are beginning the transition to VOM from other food. Due to its fibre content, the mixture is also beneficial for dogs struggling with very hard stools on raw food.
The recommended daily feeding amount is 2% of the dog’s body weight.
It is important to bear in mind that this is a guideline quantity, and that you must adjust according to the dog's individual needs. VOM Digestive has a lower fat and energy content which should be taken into account when dosing. Therefore, use the stated amount as a starting point.
Use this formula:
The dog's weight in kg × 20 = grams per day
Example: A 15 kg dog: 15 × 20 = 300 grams per day
