Femundløpet
– the winter's most beautiful adventure
The Femund Race is one of Europe's largest and most traditional long-distance dog sled races, with the start and finish in historic Røros. Every year, mushers from all over the world gather to take part in the race, which runs through spectacular mountain areas and seven municipalities in Trøndelag and Innlandet.
The race is open to both experienced mushers and beginners – and is known for its inclusive and professional setup. Spectators can follow the race along parts of the trail and at the checkpoints, where lively community events are created, driven by local volunteers.
The Femund Race is more than a competition – it is a grassroots movement that builds community, creates tourism and recruits newcomers to the sport.
