The Hunting Twins

The twins Kristine and Johanne Thybo Hansen – also known as the Hunting Twins, have never lived like most teenagers. They live for their dogs, hunting, fishing and have a genuine passion for the outdoors. Nature has been an important part of their lives ever since their childhood.

Roll-your-own tobacco has been swapped for snus, coffee remains a good companion on trips, and the language has become more moderate over the years.

The girls grew up in Nordreisa in Troms, and are both dedicated hunters, fishers and experienced dog handlers. Large carnivore and bird hunting with their dogs is closest to the twin sisters' hearts. Hunting and fishing are more than a hobby – they are a passion and a huge part of their lives.
«For us this is the optimal life, we hate city life and couldn't imagine having it any other way, they say in unison.

As 10-year-olds they cried until they got their very first dog, an Irish setter. Neither the girls, who were only children, nor the parents had any previous experience with gundogs. It was a steep learning curve, which eventually resulted in both capercaillie and willow grouse being bagged before the dog was eight years old.
Even back then they were active in the bird dog community, and the experience from there laid the foundation for further development in both dog handling and hunting.
2008 was the year Kristine and Johanne bought their own bird dogs, and since then they have been actively involved with gundogs. They have had their best experiences out in nature together with the dogs, which for both of them are both best friends and family members. Competitions have also been a major hobby, and they have several strong results to show for it – including a national championship silver medal for teams and several champion titles for the dogs.

Although the twin sisters have a close bond, they now live on opposite sides of the country. Johanne has moved to Loen in Western Norway, and lives with her partner Atle and son Ask. In addition to cherishing time with two- and four-legged creatures, she also runs her own business.
Kristine lives in Reisadalen in North Troms with her husband, Robert. Together they run the company «Hail and farewell», where they make podcasts, hunting and fishing films, run their own online shop and recently also started with guiding.
