DYREGALLAEN 2023

Now this year's happening for animal lovers is being repeated!

VOM presents in collaboration with Drammen Hundesenter and Dyreatferdssenteret DYREGALLAEN 2023 – for those of us who love animals.

It is once again time for the focus to be turned to those who spend a lot of their time on animals in general and dogs in particular. Focus on what animals mean to us humans. Not least, the important role that animals play for humans and society
It is not prestige and results that are most important, but a good heart and a great commitment.
THE DYREGALLAEN IS FOR EVERYONE!

Nominate a true animal lover – five categories

Do you know someone who has an extra-large heart for animals, a driving force, a young person with an interest in and love for animals, someone who takes great pictures or a true animal hero? You can nominate animal lovers, colleagues, yourself and anyone who deserves to shine a little extra on a Saturday evening in February 2024.

Nominate a true animal lover, a colleague, someone who is passionate about animal welfare or has a big heart for all animals! You can nominate in five categories. You can nominate several people in one category or one person in several categories.

The nomination categories

Category 1:Dog photo / animal photo of the year:

Do you have a picture of a dog that means a lot to you? Or another animal? What is the story behind the picture?

In this category you can nominate a friend or you can submit your own photo. The photo will be judged according to these criteria:

  • Motive
  • mood / feeling
  • history (please feel free to tell us the story behind the image. Why/what does this image mean to you?)
  • picture quality

The photo must be taken by you or the person being nominated. The person being nominated must consent to the nomination. The photo must be suitable for posting on social media and for use in a blog and on our website in connection with the competition.

The image is attached to the email as a high-resolution attachment.

Category 2:Community Hero of the Year

Within all work involving animals, countless hours of labour are put in. This can be as a working professional for society, a competitor, a volunteer contributing as a visiting dog handler, etc., working for animal welfare in one of the country's many organisations, turning up for voluntary working bees at the dog club; instructing, holding training sessions and motivating other club members on a voluntary basis, one can be a walking companion, or one can have helped ensure that owners and animals in the local community get access to important benefits and experiences.

The nominee must consent to the nomination. The story must be able to be published on social media and used in a blog and on our websites in connection with the competition.

We are happy to receive high-resolution images attached to the email.

Category 3:Animal Hero of the Year

(this can be either a working dog or a family dog that has done something extraordinary)

Many dogs do an invaluable job. These can be guide dogs, visiting dogs, reading dogs, therapy dogs and so on. The category also includes rescue dogs, search dogs, and dogs in the service of the police, customs, armed forces or prison service. We extend the term «working dog» to all dogs that perform a socially useful service on a small or large scale. The Animal Hero of the Year category can include an animal that has been of great importance to someone and has contributed to coping, the joy of life or an important friendship.

We are also opening up for other types of animals, such as horses, cats, etc., to do a socially useful job, and the jury is open to other species being included in the nomination.

The nominee must consent to the nomination. The story must be able to be published on social media and used in a blog and on our websites in connection with the competition.

We are happy to receive high-resolution images attached to the email

Category 4:Young animal lover under 20 years old

(this can be either a working dog or a family dog that has done something extraordinary)

Good sportsmanship, a good role model etc. In this category, top podium finishes do not necessarily count, but rather the relationship with and interest in animals. Here, one can nominate «because of» or «despite everything». The young animal lover of the year will be the one who has touched, inspired, motivated and put the animal in the spotlight. It can also be someone who spends a lot of time in the stable or cowshed, walks all the neighbourhood dogs, feeds the small birds through the winter or shows a great dedication to animals

The nominee must consent to the nomination. The justification must be suitable for publishing on social media and for use in a blog and on our website in connection with the competition.

We are happy to receive high-resolution images attached to the email.

Upper age limit: Nominees may turn 20 during 2023.

Category 5:This year's Guest of Honour Award

(this can be either a working dog or a family dog that has done something extraordinary)

This category is open. Here you can nominate someone who has stepped forward and made a difference within dog and/or animal training, educational work, and made an imprint in the world of animals. Working for better animal health, animal welfare, breeding, and training, to name a few suggestions.

The nominee must consent to the nomination. The story must be able to be published on social media and used in a blog and on our websites in connection with the competition.

We are happy to receive high-resolution images attached to the email.
